Set up ATOM for your first job and invoice
Follow one docs-demo path from first sign-in to a scheduled job and a sent invoice.
This tutorial takes you from first sign-in to a scheduled job and a sent invoice.

Welcome. You will use the docs-demo tenant that ships with ATOM. The tenant uses fixed records, so your screens match the screenshots and examples in this page.
Use this path once before you train your team. You will schedule Kitchen sink leak assessment, create an invoice from the quote lines, and send it to the agency billing contact.
You will touch four records in order: a work order, a booking, a quote, and an invoice. Keep that order. It gives each screen the context it needs.
Keep these values nearby while you work through the tutorial.

You will finish with three checks. The booking appears on the schedule. The work order lifecycle shows a booking and an invoice. The invoice status is Sent.
If you have not used ATOM before, read Navigate ATOM, search, and get help first. It explains the app shell, command palette, in-app help, and changelog that this tutorial uses.
#1. Sign in
Open the ATOM app and use the demo account. This account represents a maintenance company owner who can view work orders, schedule technicians, and send invoices.
Use the credentials exactly as written. The seed data depends on this tenant and user.

#2. Read the home dashboard
Use Home as your starting point. The dashboard shows delivery pressure, schedule risk, and invoice follow-up in one place.
Start with the cards near the top, then read the work-order list. You are looking for one request that needs a technician visit and can later be invoiced.

#3. Open the schedule
Open the planner before you create the booking. Use the technician calendar to choose the job time.
The day planner is where ATOM records who will attend and when they will attend. It also gives you a way to check technician load before dispatch.
Stay in the day view for this tutorial. The day view shows enough detail for the booking time and technician assignment.

#4. Start a booking
Create the booking from the planner, not from a note. This records the technician, time, priority, and work order link together.
The booking is the schedule record. It should point back to the work order so anyone can move from the calendar to the job context.

#5. Link the work order
Attach the booking to the request that needs the visit. This keeps the schedule, quote, invoice, property, and agency connected.
Use the work order title from the dashboard. Do not create a separate job for this tutorial.

#6. Assign the lead technician
Choose the technician who owns the visit. The docs-demo tenant already has trade coverage for this job.
Emma Wilson is the plumber assigned to urgent leak and hot-water work in the demo tenant. Use her as the lead technician for this booking.

#7. Enter the booking time
Use one fixed time window so screenshots stay stable. The time is in the future, so the booking form accepts it during validation.
Enter the time first, then check the service type and priority. The priority should match the work order urgency.

#8. Create the booking
Save the booking and return to the planner. ATOM writes the booking with the selected work order, technician, time, service type, and priority.
The planner card is the first proof that the job is scheduled. Read it before you move on.

#9. Open the booking details
Check the booking before you move to billing. The details dialog confirms that the booking carries the expected work order, technician, and time.
This check catches common handoff mistakes before the invoice is created.

#10. Open the work order
Return to the work order so you can review the job context and create the invoice.
The work order page is the handoff surface for the office team. It shows the request, property, agency, lifecycle records, and activity.

#11. Confirm the request details
Read the work order before you invoice. This prevents billing the wrong agency or property.
Use the request and context sections as your check. The title tells you what work was requested. The property and agency tell you where the work happens and who receives billing.

#12. Review the quote source
Use the quote lines as the invoice source. The docs-demo tenant already includes a draft quote for this job.
This tutorial does not send the quote. You are using its line items to make the invoice total traceable to a reviewed estimate.

#13. Create the invoice
Create the invoice from the work order lifecycle. ATOM links it back to the job, property, agency, and quote lines.
The create drawer should show that it is copying line items from the quote. This avoids a blank invoice and keeps the first invoice amount tied to the job record.
Use the due date from this page. The exact date keeps the invoice example deterministic across screenshots and reviews.

#14. Open the draft invoice
Open the draft before sending it. The invoice drawer is where you check status, line items, totals, and send actions.
This is the last review point before the billing email is recorded.
Read the recipient field before you send. The demo agency billing email is fake, but the workflow is the same as a real billing contact.

#15. Send the invoice
Send the invoice to the billing contact from the invoice drawer. Use the agency billing email from the docs-demo seed.
ATOM records the send action on the invoice. The invoice status changes from Draft to Sent after the mutation completes.

#16. Check the finished path
Finish by checking the three records you touched. You should be able to move from the work order to the booking and invoice without losing context.
This final check proves the path is complete for the demo tenant.
